the Cacing Diaries #7

month 3

It is Cacing’s 3-month birthday tomorrow. Yes, we mark each month milestone of our daughter, in continued celebration of our blessing but also in hopeful anticipation of better nights ahead!

Cacing remains a bundle. She enjoys her wakeful hours too much that when she gets drowsy, she gets cranky. That’s what you get from a child who enjoys the company of adults and the different sights and sounds before her that she’d shake off her sleepiness by well, crying! Occasionally she’ll be sweet and slip into a nap like an angel but more often than not, a yawn would be a prelude to a crying fit. Sensory stimulation leaves her wanting for more.

Before, she’ll drift to sleep in my arms oh-so readily. Then a week ago, it seemed that I could no longer lull her to sleep. I’ll try but she won’t stop crying unless her mom cradles her. We conclude that it must be the comforting bosom of her mom! The warm softness of her chest and the promise of milk seem to calm her best. But is this the making of separation anxiety from her mom?

Certainly, Cacing is bliss. She is talkative. She engages us into conversations that only she understands. Per advice of folks, we don’t engage her back with baby talk and try our best to talk to her the adult way. Baby’s minds work like a sponge and I hear that they are learning language even at such an early age.

Her laughs are getting more frequent and they easily compensate for all the travails- the crying fits, the sleepless nights, the constant fussiness.

But as I’ve said before, I couldn’t wait for her to grow up. Tomorrow, I know, will bring more pleasure.
